How to link PAN with Aadhaar Card Online?

The Government of India through its last budget announced how significant it is for every individual to link their PAN with Aadhaar. The Supreme Court decision has granted permission to link PAN with Aadhaar card in its verdict on the constitutional validity of Aadhaar. Now, it is also imperative to use Aadhaar to file an income tax return and issue a new PAN card. According to Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the time limit to link PAN with Aadhaar has been extended to 30the September 2019. Also, from April onwards, it is compulsory to link Aadhaar everywhere, filling income tax return. These days, it is not feasible to file ITR According to chartered accountants, an individual cannot file their ITR without linking the two first.

Best Ways to Link your PAN with Aadhaar

If you have been registered on the Income Tax website already: If you already exist on the Income Tax website, then it is likely that your PAN is already registered with Aadhaar. Specially, if you have mentioned your Aadhaar in the previously filed ITR in the last financial year. The income tax department takes care of the linking part, in case both PAN card and Aadhaar details are available online. You can also check if your Aadhaar is already linked to PAN by logging into the income tax website @incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. In case, you are not linked to Aadhaar, then fill in relevant details like name, date of birth and gender as appearing on the PAN card. And then check your Aadhaar number. Submit the exact information. Once submitted, a success message will be displayed on your screen.

For new users: If registration on the e -filing website does not feel convenient, then there is another way to link PAN & Aadhaar. Click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ and fill in details like PAN, Aadhaar number, Name as per Aadhaar. This is available at the bottom of the e filling website. Once the information is carefully submitted, your PAN will be linked to Aadhaar.

a) Send an SMS to PAN service providersIf you have had a failed attempt at linking your PAN & Aadhaar on the e filing website, then there another way of linking PAN card to Aadhaar. Central Board of Direct Taxes has announced a few other ways to link PAN & Aadhaar as well. Now just send an SMS to link your PAN & Aadhaar now. You can type and send SMS to any of the two PAN service providers (NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited or UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITL). Send an SMS to the following numbers: 567678 or 56161.

b) Manual LinkingCBDT also provides a manual method to ease down various issues of individuals who are unable to match PAN & Aadhaar through online methodologies. This helps to also leverage all possibilities of linking PAN & Aadhaar without exception per se. You can also physically visit PAN service providers for extraordinary support.
